UCSD Extension
Since 2004, I’ve taught introductory and advanced science-writing courses through UC San Diego Extension. With just these courses under their belt, several of my students have gone to the Santa Cruz Science Writing program; graduate studies at Berkeley, Columbia, and Cornell; internships with the Los Angeles Times, New Scientist, and Chronicle of Higher Education; staff writing positions with regional and national publications; public information positions with major universities; and account executive positions with bioscience PR agencies.

Workshops
I’ve created fun, fast-paced workshops for clients and scientific associations that enhance interview, news release, newsletter, and feature-writing skills. Workshops content is geared around specific client needs and exercises are created from an organization’s material. The result: What I teach can be applied by students the very next day.
